themegaloo: (KHR- Dino- HEEE.)
First of all, I have had a MAD HAT WEEKEND. Believe me when I say this. Utterly mad. And I did not spend the whole thing drunk so I can't even blame it on alcohol. The maddest things actually happened when I was SOBER. Or mostly and likely the most sober of the group. Baffling. I cannot really talk much about it though because some of it is Super Sekrit and would be awkward for people not me if someone from FB should wander over and I am kind in the event of this (small) possibility. But I have this thing. It's a meme. I'm going to do that instead.

Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

Stolen from the lovely [ profile] dynastic~

God way to pick an obvious topic! I think most of my entries in the last six months or so have had SOMETHING or another to do with Ireland. Suffice it to say, I love it. It's really different from living in the states, and not just because of the weather! (though trust me, that was hell to get used to! I've about got that handled now though. Thank god.) Living here is just. It's different. I do different things than I would have back home, even when I was in college there. I guess part of it is that I live in a city instead a small town, but there's this enormous amount of freedom, you know? Born from being one of a Whole Fucking Lot. I've decided I like cities. Dublin is a brilliant city. I went up to Howth (pronounced 'Hoe-th,' not 'How-th') on Saturday--it's this peninsula overlooking Dublin from out in the Bay. Very, very cool to sort of see the whole thing...spread out. I need to get out of Dublin some more, but every time I do it's just so pretty. Green. And I love, love, love the bookstores. I spend far too much time in those. And Murphy's, my favorite pub. Where I rarely drink myself stupid but frequently go for talk, a pint or two and a very delicious sandwich. My favorite bartender has taken to giving me free crisps whenever I'm in there too. AWESOME. I like Ireland.

Is epic. Is adorable and strange and I miss it like crazy because it was just. so. fun. I just loved how Dino's perpetual good humor like, seemed to throw Mukuro off of his Strange and Creepy because it's supposed to make people UNCOMFORTABLE, not amuse them. IDK. They came at things from such opposite directions but both seemed to just take things in stride which made them sort of alike but completely different, which is what I loved about the pairing, really. I MISS IT. Though I don't really miss RPing very often, which makes me sad because I used to love it so much. I really just miss it when I want to play out an interesting relationship, not read/write fic about it. You get more...involved, I guess. By just taking on one of the brains you get to know it better. I miss the D18 for similar reasons, but I just can't make that commitment again. :(

Used to completely OWN my life. I loved it a lot, surely, and it shaped a great deal of who I am, but right now? I don't really miss it. I liked the sense of community, but I always felt most accomplished when I was like, Stage Managing and god knows it about killed me last time I did that. It's just too much work and I tended to spread myself far too thin. I thought about getting involved here as well, but then I remembered how little time I had for anything else when I was part of it and how much fun I've had when I DO have that time. But I will always be grateful to the theatre, and particular Mr. Lewis, for shaping me. For getting me over my shyness. For giving me a community that was designed for eccentric people. I like that. I think it's something everyone should be a part of at least once in their life, because it's really good for the soul.

~Procrastination Missa!
She changed it, not me! but we are both very, very good at procrastinating. Or bad it because it's not something we SHOULD do, really. It is a sacred bond over a sacred art form that exists Cause stress, probably. But MISSA. As that is the bit not crossed out. Is one of my favoritest people on the entire internet. She is adorable and sweet and has got a ton of potential to lead a really awesome and fun life! High School can just be an utter drag. I am always quite happy when I catch her on AIM. :D She tells me when I am being foolish and listens to all my crazy stories and actually seems to LIKE them! She has some really fun stories herself too! I spent like, all summer talking to her until Crazy O'Clock about Life and Things and RPing the aforementioned Dino/Mukuro. Some of truly the best conversations I've ever had. I don't even mind her fetus status--Missa is good people and is hopefully blushing by now. >D (ilu ♥!) She also got me addicted to Merlin and is a cruel, cruel person for having done so because I AM UTTERLY ADDICTED.

IS MY SUBJECT. No, seriously. But I bet you all knew that. It's what I do. I read. I analyze. I make very strange allusions that a very small portion of the population actually GETS, but when they do, oh how hilarious it is. Literature, I think, is under-appreciated. Yes, TV and movies and radio and internet and all that jazz are FUN, but they haven't got the HISTORY that literature does, not really. It doesn't require technology, just some way of recording the stories, even if it's oral tradition. It's culture and history and humanity and language. I love things that are playful with language and the notion of literature, even if the themes are darker. I like things that follow traditional methods, that invent new methods (that may then BECOME traditional!), I like most things. But mostly, (and I learned this recently from a classmate who said something similar) I like the stories. Maybe they're true, maybe they're not. But they're from people and they've been preserved in a way that is beautiful. And figuring out exactly what those stories are and how they're made up and told, that is academia for me. Understanding. And I like that.

OKAY WHO WANTS TO DO THIS. And no, you don't have to blather that much, rofl.

PS- foot is functional again, that is the wonders of an ice pack and painkillers!

Of what I've read. I warned Jessi that you don't want to see this. I've at least HEARD OF almost all of these and read several more that I think SHOULD be on the list. But I'm biased.

(27 read in full)

Apparently “The Big Read” assumes that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
1a) Asterisk those you've started/read part of but not finished.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them

The list! )

Anyhow! I'm surrounded by books and papers and....well, pillows because the prior two aren't very comfy and working on my essay. Or, the outline of it at least. I'm re-discovering why I don't write outlines. They aren't very coherent and often have bits of me ranting about something. Actually. Just look.

What the hell! Now I know why I never bothered with the anon memes before. You people are nuts when you get to be anon. It doesn't honestly bug me that much because, well. I know myself better than a bunch of people out in cyberspace that don't see my actually expressions and clearly can't tell that I'm very rarely serious about anything ever and that I play things up for humor like crazy. But really, if I annoy you so badly, go ahead and defriend, it won't hurt my feelings.

IN OTHER NEWS as I had a nap and woke up to that madness, today was the Long Day on campus with the four hour break between classes. There is absolutely no purpose in coming back to halls in between because it takes a good 45 minutes sometimes and you can't predict when it'll take that long or less time so might as well just stay and save yourself the walking or the bus/luas fare. The past two Thursdays I've gotten 4 hours of Terrence Brown for class, which is sort of an overdose on Terrence Brown, really! He's an interesting prof but 7 hours with him in a week is a bit much!! We move on to our next Major Authors prof on Tuesday, who is also teaching Yeats. Two more weeks of courses, holy crap! Then exam week and I write another paper and then HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS! WHERE IT'S WARM!!! I am looking forward to being WARM for once in my life, hahaha!

Quiet night tonight! Just sort of chilling by myself in my room. Going to turn on "Definitely, Maybe" and eat a few chocolate bars with air bubbles and drink tea and just be a girl girl girl. We were originally supposed to jam tonight, but then the boys were going to play football, but then the pitch was double booked by the badminton team and then we all just went "fuck it." But I think the band or whatever it is might actually get a gig together, which would be insanely fun. And has been insanely fun just in the jamming, though I found I had forgotten all the words to My Immortal yesterday, whoops. Had to look those up! Also working on 9 Crimes and Everything Burns. Why is there a disposition towards DEPRESSING MUSIC? Pretty, though.

Speaking of music, have you guys heard the song "Galway Girl?" I'll assume yes, I think it's in P.S. I Love You. Point is that there are three main types of places to go drinking: Pubs, which are quiet and mostly for talking, Clubs, which are pretty much a meat market, and this weird combination which is my favorite. It's a brighter atmosphere with loud music and dancing, but it definitely doesn't fall under "club" or "pub." They're good fun, though and there are two I rather like- Rody Boland's and Flannery's (though Flannery's VERGES on club-- there is no cover and it's pretty bright, despite generally being packed-- the packed being the verging bit). At BOTH of these almost EVERY time I go to EITHER of them, they play Galway Girl. It's a song I think I'm going to associate with this year for the rest of my life just based on how often I hear it! Good memories already. :D

SO THAT MEME. Why not.

01. Take a picture of yourself right now.
02. Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair
03. Post that picture with NO editing.
04. Post these instructions with your picture.

Tuesday is THE DAY, guys. I have one full day left. We're leaving here at like, 6 am Tuesday because LAST time I flew overseas I managed to MISS MY FLIGHT due to the horrors of security.

I did finally get my course handbook too, which means I got to read ALL ABOUT the hard work I'll be doing for the next year, which is a lot. but I am le crazy and am mostly EXCITED about it!! Mom took me shopping yesterday and I got all sorts of new clothes that fit REALLY well because everything in the petite section of Anne Taylor Loft is like, perfect. She also bought me new underwear and bras. One of the pairs of underwear says "CALL YOUR MOTHER" on it. My mom is silly and awesome.

Wanted to RP yesterday, but was way, way too braindead to do so. MAYBE TODAY! And then...tomorrow I hiatus. Eep.

Except I'm a brat and CHANGED THE QUESTIONS. >D

1. There are 30 questions.
2. Next to each number, write only the name of the person who fits.
3. Answer one question with one name.
4. Don't tell the questions to anyone who isn't doing the meme This is mean because the people who have DONE the meme don't want to do it AGAIN. Ask and ye shall receive.

Yesterday was the first day in forever I didn't have to do ANYTHING for Dragonfly. Because it's completely over. We struck the set Sunday morning. And then went in mass to see another show in town [which was amazing] and then went to hang out in Sweetheart Circle for HOURS AND HOURS. It was fun. We suck at splitting ways. It's hard to say goodbye to this show.

But I've basically been a zombie of hungoverness today because Meagan decided we needed to go out yesterday. Not last NIGHT but yesterDAY. As in we hit El Som for food and margaritas and played the sort of "remember when" game for two and a half hours. We're splitting ways soon so it was pretty awesome to relive some of the best theatre moments. We also made a pact to be back here in five years so we can rent out the bar for the night and have a big theatre-tastic reunion and sing La Vie Boheme.

Left there, went home for a while, chauffeured around by Bailey. Tried a new beer and started calling people. We had a pretty good crew by the time we went out to Dos at 9. But I think you can catch on to why I'm a bit out of it. We stayed almost until last call and I did the math earlier to the tune of partying for about nine hours. Hoo boy.

But it's put me in the mood to do a MEME if people are interested. And I'm making this up as I go so stfu. :D

Leave me a comment with your favorite memory of me. Could be me personally, me in a group, RP related, RL related, you name it. It could be sweet, funny, embarrassing, etc but beware because I'll return the favor for you. Feel free to pass this on!
themegaloo: (One Piece- Bakaship- :O!)
Hi folks, guess what? You get to read just me blathering. Lucky you. Though I guess I won't blame you if you just scroll on past. This is going to prove to be very dorky.

Now, first of, I have discovered the best, and possibly one of the most hilarious ways to pass time. Watching One Piece in German. Now I know that doesn't SOUND terribly amusing, especially if you don't SPEAK German, but to me, it's downright amazing. I can understand about HALF of what they're saying and I'm totally picking up new vocabulary and I think it's pretty much a win-win situation. Plus, it's just downright funny. Falkonaugen Mihawk? Eisburg? The Sogeking themesong? One of the things I've noticed is the German dub is a LOT FARTHER ALONG than the English one. And I encourage anyone to search "deutsch, one piece" on youtube and watch random clips because some of the voices are HILARIOUS.

In other watching news, I finally have actually seen all of Firefly. Not entirely in order YET, as I saw the last four episodes over the Christmas hols and am only just now caught back up to that point from the beginning. I really like it. Which is surprising on one count because I hates Buffy and Angel when I was forced to watch them every day after school and unsurprising on another because they're, well. Space pirates. I scared myself half to death last night though. Reavers are creepy at the best of times, but at 2 am in the living room by yourself? Yeah, downright terrifying and I don't recommend it. BUT I DO RECOMMEND FIREFLY ON THE WHOLE. HIGHLY! It's sort of HILARIOUS.

I'm also still flabbergasted by how much I love writing fic for One Piece. I wrote TWO yesterday. The one properly posted and then a Smoker/Ace fic in the comments for [ profile] xredribbon. So fun.

OH! And that meme. The nice one where you pick ten people who make your day a little shinier! I'd paste the instructions but I don't have them handy. Tagged by [ profile] takewing though, and it's just such a sweet meme I had to do it. Was gonna post it yesterday but posted fic instead. Whoops. And I could only really think of 8. So hey. No real order. Find that under here! )

I realized with the end of classes comes the time when I have....absolutely nothing to do.

So I did that meme!

January: It's funny, people who remind me of Steven just put me in a distinctly unfavorable mood towards interactions with them.
February: Yes, I know Snuzz, you liked drooling over the Bleach boys in my header, but still.
March: Going from KAIEN-DONO! to "Happy People" just ain't natural, and that's all I have to say on the matter.
April: Even when I actually make myself GO TO SLEEP in the middle of giant IC funnyness on AIM, I still wake up in the mornings exhausted.
May: Finals are this week! In fact I have my American Lit final in...5 1/2 hours.
June: SO. I am in Missouri. With Snuzz and RIah and Fae. And. kajshfjkashfjkhfsjksahdjasd the world has not exploded yet from the combined awesome of US.
July: Guys. I am in Harry Potter heaven right now.
August: Oh man. I'M FICCING!! Shock of all shocks, it's HP.
September: [first entry: just fic] I can't sleep.
October: When was my last entry?
Novemeber: In a poem?
December: Bailey and I have a pact.

I have a tendency of starting entries with one-word sentences or VERY SHORT sentences and clearly, sleeping was my primary issue this year. Rofl. Though March amused me a lot. XD It's been an eventful year for me! :D

Time to get dressed, find food and head to work. Whoop whoop. Where I will sit and continue in my boredness. ;__;
themegaloo: (DN- STFU)
I did this once before, and Fae accidentally got be perusing my old entries, so I'm doing it again. The idea is this: Go through your archives. What were you doing 6 months ago, one year ago, two years ago, etc? Post a synopsis and link. Because yanno, people find our journals all the time, consider it a quick "getting to know you" dealy.

So, here goes!

Six months ago, I finally updated after being gone a few days about breaking up with Steven. I am woefully optimistica bout staying friends with him. In about a week, I will tell him to "fuck off" four times repeatedly and he will refuse to speak to me for the duration of the next six months, pretty much fleeing from me. Isn't that fun? I also quote the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock very liberally, because it's an awesome poem.

One year ago, I had decided that I thought my roommate disliked me.

Two years ago, some weirdo tapped on his window to ask me what my major was as I was wlaking past. Apparently I looked like a theatre major at the time. It was odd. I also had been in bed til noon on account of being out til 3:00 Am for Hotel Paradiso strike. You know. I'm pretty used to 3 am now. 3 am is a fairly decent bedtime for me. Oh, times. How you change.

Three years ago, I was raving about Master and Commander and how there was a hobbit on that boat omgwtfbbq.

Four years ago, I was disgustingly optimistic and listened to country. And thought I might have offended people? I wish I knew what I was smoking. Haha. Oh, to be 16. *chuckles*

Can almost do five years. Almost. Jan 5 isn't that far off of Nov 21, after all. ;)

In other news

Wait, is there other news? Oh yeah, going to Arkansas for Christmas, semester is winding down, have a big-ass paper to write for Shakespeare, still haven't done laundry or cleaned my room [which reminds me-- gem from the LJ perusal: "You know your room REALLY needs to be cleaned when you start having to get on eye level with the clutter to find your boot in it."] and, um. Damn, I think that's is, really.

Very lethargic, don't feel like accomplishing much. It's only 2 am, but I might go sleep soon. Because I can.
