Obligatory post-show...post

Hahaha, man, I'm finally part of the REAL WORLD again! YES. And I say that to mean that I've finally gotten out of the weird flow of time and space that is a weekend spent at a horse show. Anyone know what I mean? Cause, like, seriously. There could be some sort of major disaster somewhere and I wouldn't have a clue. And I think it's happened before. Anything going on that I should know about?

Buuuuut yeah. Home show this weekend, which means I've been living, breathing, eating and sleeping all about horses since like...friday. Friday was "CLEAN THE BARN SO IT'S PRESENTABLE" day, which I was at for as long as I could be because I had A- class and B- work. So I went between class and work and after work and felt like I was GOING TO DIE because my genius brain, knowing I had to WAKE UP at 5 am saturday morning instead of going to bed then decided the best way to make myself get enough sleep was to be really tired. Read: not sleeping thursday night. Remind me NOT TO DO THAT. Friday was awful. XD Well, fun. But I felt like the walking dead. And collapsed at like, 9:45 or 10 PM afterwards.

Saturday was the English show. As the majority of our team is in fact, English, I gladly give up my two spots [we're limited on entries to 18, I ride in two of those slots when I ride], I was our announcer. This is typically true of our English shows. And I'm kinda brilliant at it. It comes from having a real love of hanging onto that microphone for hours. I like hearing myself talk. :D Annnnnd I've gone to a lot of shows and know how it's done and all. Basically, I get lots of compliments for my loud, clear voice and in return generally LOSE said voice for a few days after [it's a bit scratchy still]. But, despite freezing up in the little birdhouse [shade, win, cold, ew], it was pretty damn amusing.

Here's the funny story from saturday:
A piece of paper got loose next to the ring and the very mild wind caught it. Now, not so bad, right? Except that said piece of paper went OVER THE RING and flitted in front of one of the horses who spooked and the poor girl fell off before the class had even started [she was fine, so it's funny]. Then, of course, getting that paper becomes a priority. But it is a highly uncooperative piece of paper and the little gusts of wind twirl it waaaaaay up in the air-- still right over the ring. So we've got THREE people running around under this little piece of paper, heads craned back trying to be under it when it lands. I'm up in the announcer's stand LAUGHING and watching and eventually grabbing the mic to go "WATCH OUT, RIDERS, THERE IS A PIECE OF PAPER FLYING OVER THE RING!" Eventually, the paper comes down and NOW these poor souls are chasing it all over the ground because it's STILL getting buffeted by the wind. Calls from the sidelines of "DIVE-BOMB IT!" are heard. Eventually it is jumped on, subdued and removed and we can get on with life. And I gleefully spent the next several minutes cracking. up. XD

So yesterday was the Western show. Well, shows, as we do two of them in a row. This, my friends, is why I give up my English spots. I ride FOUR TIMES during the Western shows. Two rail classes, two reining. I did pretty well in my reining classes, I think the world could live without rail classes on the whole. DULL. Reining? Reining WINS. It's fast and you go in and do your thing, it's about controlling the horse and accomplishing the pattern and being the best at it. In the morning show, I rode Tuffy, and he's old-hat at it. Been doing it for years and all. It was a good round, but could use improvement in like, transitions and shit. 4th place Yay! Then in the AFTERNOON class, I had Rocky. Who's pretty young and and cute and all, aye? But he reins, so i just went in there and EXPECTED him to do his thing when I asked. You know, when I do that, things turn out better. *grin* He did it. And did it WELL. We had the best little backup! He just STOPPED and tucked his head under and picked up his feet and went WHOOSH, backwards! Brilliant. Some really good rollbacks too-- AND I GOT MY LEADS OUT OF THEM. SCORE. [this does not always happen. In fact, this usually DOES NOT HAPPEN, but I got all four yesterday, YUS.] Buuuut I needed more change of pace between my circles. HOWEVER. THIRD PLACE. THIS PLEASES ME.

And then after the show was finally over, I had to stick around for HOURS to do my treasurey thing. Which sucked. I am -so- passing the bullet on that job. So over this. XD Someone ELSE can cope with all these damn checks and shite. Baaah. Buuuut that done, I got home at like, 8:30. And passed out by 11. Wtf. WORLD, JOIN ME IN MY WTF-ING AT ME IN BED BY 11. IT DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Michael came and watched me ride yesterday. :D He saw one of the rail classes. They buggered up the schedual though, so he missed reining. I think he'd have liked that more, it's far more entertaining. But still. He came. This makes me a bit ridiculously happy. Pls to be ignoring the strangeness that is me REALLY LIKING SOMEONE AGAIN OMG. He's cute. :D And I just got back from eating with him. There was an hour pause in the writing of this, lulz.

Um, I think I'm done now. ^^;;
