Oh updating.

I never can come up with decent subjects for anything these days. Because everything is basically some sort of weird hodge-podge of whatever or fic or who-knows-what.

Yeah I have no idea where I was going with that either.

Life's pretty good. Financial Aid checks came today and I got a lift up to the bank between classes from Steph so i could go ahead and take care of it. Oh my god you ALWAYS know when checks go out because EVERYONE AND THEIR BROTHER IS AT WACHOVIA. This would be because it's basically the only big-chain bank in Statesboro. Most of them are very, very regional. Hell, there isn't even a BANK OF AMERICA. Which drove me crazy for three years before I caved to the lure of a physical building to bank at instead of the single BoA ATM in the student union. Great job, Statesboro.

So today while driving/riding around town it really struck me that in a few months, I won't be living here anymore. I really want to go around town with my camera and just take pictures of all the places I go a lot, where I walk, what I drive past. All the things that people usually just take for granted, you know? Like the place I go to buy my alcohol, as terrible as that sounds. It's this run-down Fast & Easy with a PAINTED sign with bad cartoon-like drawings and the paint's peeling and just getting in and out of the parking lot can be an adventure. Almost as much of an adventure as finding stuff in there. They've got a bunch of different wines and probably more types of beer than anywhere else in town. Plus, they sell Strongbow. I don't think there's anywhere else around here that does. It's a unique little place, you know? And somehow I wonder how much longer it will last like it is before someone decides to tear it down and make it look even remotely modern. Hell, I'll miss it and my aging apartment complex and all the other stuff that just is so....Statesboro.

So yeah. Would anybody be interested in seeing those if I do it?

In other news, if you hadn't caught on yet- I quit [livejournal.com profile] bnf_brawl a few weeks ago. It's been sort of a relief. I hadn't been on there nearly as much as I should have been in ages and I'd just become completely jaded to it. Last semester when I just couldn't manage an internet life, a real life and a school/work life I just got out of the habit, yanno? Never really got the spark for it back. Now I feel like I can really be a PART of fandom again because I'm not forced to produce something half-assed at the end of each month for characters I barely play. Weird sort of freedom. I thought I'd miss it more but I think I did the majority of "moving on" back in October/November. Hey. that's life.

Oh my god this entry is depressing. It's like all these different parts of my life are just...wrapping up. Coming to a conclusion. Ending. This is definitely not what I had in mind when I started typing.

SO TO LEAVE IT ON A HAPPY NOTE. As soon as my check clears the bank, this is so going to be mine.

GAH! I'm so jealous! I want a Chopperman plushie.

[identity profile] themegaloo.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have it YET. But I WILL. AHHHGK WANT.

[identity profile] xredribbon.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
I figure that I could get a few posters for that price. But still...Chopperman. Though the ideal would be a few posters AND the plushie.

[identity profile] themegaloo.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Yes it would be. That's my plan, actually. *_*

I like Strongbow.

[identity profile] themegaloo.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
As do I. Oh, as do I.

[identity profile] takewing.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be interested. I love seeing pictures and pieces of peoples' lives and what not.

That plushie is so freaking cute omg. *_*

[identity profile] themegaloo.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I do too, it's so much fun to see what PEOPLE think is important about where they live, not the agencies or whoever make websites and stuff saying COME HERE!!

It is. *_* And it's SO totally ORDERED now. *_* I can't wait to hug him stupid.

I didn't really like Statesboro for what it's worth, but there are places that just... It would not have been my freshman year without them. I mean, God, the Blockbuster that had amazing movies (much better than the one in Evans), Walmart where every redneck in town does their grocery shopping on Saturday, the outside second floor of the dining hall, the creaky gate that SLAMMED on the Southern Courtyard apts right below my room, how you can get virtually anywhere in that town with a 5-minute drive (and if it can't take a 5-minute drive, it's too far), and the tiny little movie theater that doesn't have stadium seating...

Yeah, you should take some photos. I'm starting to get nostalgic, and I hated my year at Southern. LOL.

[identity profile] themegaloo.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Haha! Yeah, it's the little things, really. The random oddities that make it Statesboro. Oh and the theater has Stadium seating now. In a few of the theaters at least! It's taken me until this year to REALLY appreciate it for what it is-- the tiny shops in HOUSES downtown that you just have to know are there or you're never going to see them, how perfectly normal stores or offices are nestled between ancient houses...

Just a snapshot of what it's like to really LIVE here, not just visit.

[identity profile] ninepointfivemm.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, the theater has stadium seating now, huh? Hahaha. I remember watching the first Pirates of the Caribbean there on my birthday. They never played any of the movies I wanted to see. I had to go to the AUG to see Once Upon a Time in Mexico and down to Savannah to see Love Actually and Big Fish. And I think it took them two weeks to get Return of the King. Isn't that sad?

I went on a date with a boy who I took a couple of high school classes with, then ended up at GSU and ASU with the first two years and then he went back to GSU... So now I associate Walmart with the 4 trips it took us to make supper for his youth group, because we both have ADD. LOL.

Maybe you should shoot a series of photos from like, your way home from somewhere else in the Boro. Does the communications department still have the trailer? Because I would soo take photos of that for posterity. And dude. You should take a picture of Gary and his beard.

[identity profile] themegaloo.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
YEP. And they occasionally get movies I want to see. OCCASIONALLY. But I know what you mean. I remember having a HEART ATTACK when they actually played Brokeback Mountain.

HAHAHA! Oh man, I RARELY go to Walmart unless it's in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I was there a few hours ago, actually.

That's the plan, really. To just go to class one day with my camera and take snapshots the whole way. And we lost the trailer LAST SEMESTER. ROTC has it now, so there's a gun outside it and everything. Comm Arts is in Veazy Hall now, they renovated it. Music program has Hendricks because they're working on the Foy building and zomg we have a BRAND NEW BLACKBOX. As of like. .....Oh literally TODAY I think the contractors were due to hand it over. And let me say that building is PRETTY.
