Horse Show..
Jul. 12th, 2004 09:48 pmI have returned! And I can't say 'none the worse for wear' because I'm SICK. Gr. Stupid head cold.
At any rate, I had fun at what may very well be my last PSJ show ever...
Schooled brilliantly on thursday, had a scratchy throat. Went to dinner at O'Charlie's with the whole gang and Tess decided to chase down the waiter and tell him that it was MY birthday so we could get a cake. Well we got a cake. That and the whole staff it seemed came out to sing and I was gifted with three balloons. They'd talked about it briefly before they came out singing and clapping, so when I realized what was happneing, I dropped the fry I was about to put in my mouth. Cake was good. Balloons floated around the ceiling of our hotel room. =)
Friday, got 2nd in my jumper class, was a bit phazed by the massive number of left hand turns and went wide on the last one. Oh well. Showed Equitation for tht first time in 4 years and got a 4th on the flat and a 6th over fences. Last class- Hary thought it was a jump off and I wasn't entirely convinced that it wasn't. We didn't place. *smirks* Getting hoarse, nose has begun to run. Gr. Arg.
Saturday, 6th in my jumper class. Wanted to make this really awesome right turn right after the jump, was thinking about it before I jumped. Ended up turning...before the jump. 4 faults on the field, 3 on the clock. Girl who beat me the day before did almost the same thing. But she got 4 faults on the clock and 4 on the field. So I beat her that time. Wished I was doing another jumper class to correct the mistake. Damn Equitation. Did that too. No ribbon on the flat- was fighting with Harry to make him go slow. First over fences I kept looking for the next jump and turning my entire upper body. No ribbon there either. Much better in the next class, convinced myself that it wasn't a jump off! Placed 6th. Hate Equitation. Way too judgmental.
Sunday, ditched the Equitation for a second jumper class. Did the Low schooling. Double clean. Jump off time of 'a sizzeling 23 seconds and some change for Harry Po'er' (Kiwi doesn't say the T's. He's from New Zealand. Awesome accent.) First place! Mini Prix- 4 faults on the field at the 2nd to the last jump. And the rest was absobloddylutely perfect. But I didn't get to jump off. So that sucked. Placed 7th. Only 6 people were clear in the first round, only one was a double clear. But at any rate, after my 'post mortem' from Mary Ann, she took off and I fell totally apart.
I mean, it can't be normal for someone to start sobbing while still sitting on horseback. But as far as I know, it was my last show, that was my last class, there is no 'next time' to fix it because the college circuit is based on that damned Equitation shit. But yeah, Kiwi patted my leg, Judge was really nice, mum said she was close to getting up and coming over. One of Lee's kids kept telling me that she'd go talk to the Dean of GSU and tell him that I HAD to come back and due some of the fall horse shows. Tess and her mum both gave me hugs....Everyone was really really nice.
I do NOT, I repeat, do NOT want to sell my horse.
