So I started off today feeling weird and down and not-too-happy to say the least. Long story. Sort of. Well, not really, but not exactly something I feel like hashing out. And then German this morning just went and made it worse by being the most ironic early morning piece of crap ever just in regards to the subject matter. Yeah. Whatever. So I came home and turned on Bones and munched on leftovers and was feeling pretty decent by the time I had to head back to campus, half under the belief that life was out to get me and SOMEHOW the topic would be brought up again in Pre-Norman Lit.

Wonderfully not so! Instead we had a linguistics prof come in and teach us about i-mutation (AKA J-mutation, front-mutation and another word that I can't recall atm). Nerdily fantastic. Trust me, if you don't know what the hell I just said, you don't want to. Probably.

AFTER class though--that has made my whole day worthwhile.

Let's preface this. I have three literature classes (shoot me), two of which have less that ten people. Last night I had Modern Poetry, which has six people. Today I had Pre-Norman Lit--8 people. I am the only person the two classes have in common. And looking at them and the groups of people, you can see why. The Modern Poetry class is very much filled with people who like modernism. And smokers. And ex-druggies. We talk a lot about current politics, current literature and pop culture in there. Pre-Norman Lit is the group of scholars. There's a few exceptions in both, of course. But those are the ones who speak up.

Let's just say that I had my first drawn out conversation with the Old English guys today. Am.Az.Ing. The topics covered and just. It was hilarious and intelligent and everything I needed out of a conversation today. We talked about normal college things to an extent, but also about grad school and awesome classes for next semester and how we're all done with our Literature requirements but can't resist signing up for more. We talked about Beowulf, Canterbury Tales, Yeats, Things Fall Apart...a massive ammount of classic lit. We talked about the changes in how male friendships are percieved, the changes in society that affects say, filmmakers, upcoming films that are doomed to suck because society doesn't want to know the real stories...Just. Awesome. Seriously. It was MY KIND of discussion. And it was completely random out in the cold for a solid HOUR. YES. So much yes. I don't even know. Haha. I bet the people who went into class them came OUT of class to see us still there found it odd, but who the hell cares?

Life is good. In an awesomely nerdy way.
