Okay, you know how people always say that something they read that was particularly sad/poignant/beautiful would make them cry? Well, that's never happened to me before, at least not by my definition of 'cry'. 'Crying' to me is composed of not only tears, but the little sobs that catch in your throat and mean that you honestly don't do anything for a few minutes because you're just that lost in it.
Therefore, I have only ever cried in ONE movie (A Walk to Remember) because I honestly started sobbing during it (when the gy goes to his father for help...I've only seen it once). I've had tears leak out in others, but that one truly. made. me. cry.
Until tonight I had never read a fanfiction that made me cry like that, until tonight. What's crazy is that it was AU and I think it doesn't even count as 'slash' because there is like, no romance. Just a very strong friendship.
So right now I am rec'ing what I view to be currently the best, most touching fanfiction I have ever read. The Smallest Stars by lostgrl.
It's a story about Harry and Draco, but like I said- no romance. It's a bit different, alright, a lot different. But really. I have never cried like that over a fanfic! I got in bed intending to go to sleep, and I can't stop thinking about it, and I start crying AGAIN. And I don't usually cry about that sort of thing! (Usually tears and I are only on a first name basis when I'm upset, angry, or frustrated. Not touched and a bit sad.)
So yes, the rec HAD to be made NOW. Otherwise, I wasn't sleeping.
