OKAY. OKAY SO. THIS IS FOR
nickelodeon WHO APPARENTLY DELIGHTS IN GIVING INSANE PLOT BUNNIES. In other words. This is completely insane, over the top, dripping in sap and about one of the STRANGEST PAIRINGS EVER. And it doesn't even involve Zoro.
Yeah.
Spoilers through the entirety of Skypiea. SO IF YOU AREN'T DONE WITH THAT DON'T TOUCH THIS I REFUSE TO SPOIL IF I CAN HELP IT AKLDHAKJFH. OH my god it's almost 3 am.
Rated PG for lots of unnecessary schmoop.
Pairing is Cricket/Wiper. Make of that what you will.
The repairs of Skypiea were almost complete when the Knock Up Stream passed beneath it again. The recent turmoil had shifted its movement across the skies and three dreamers had been avidly marking its movement and that of the Stream, just as they had always done.
----
When Cricket had decided to pursue a new dream, he had never expected the chance to visit Norland’s City of Gold would present itself so soon. Luffy and his crew had given him more than the knowledge that it existed, they had shown him the way to get there and given him the hope that he too, might one day see it. The preparations were only just completed when the Knock Up Stream again made its debut.
----
“BOSS! WE’RE GOING TO FALL!”
“HOLD HER STEADY, WE’LL MAKE IT.”
----
With the change in power of the island in the sky, visitors were no longer attacked without warning as they once were, but instead were welcomed as visitors were rare so high in the sky.
Cricket and the Saruyama Alliance had a much easier time of things in the sky. There were still some holes to navigate so as not to crash back to the solid earth so far below them, but they were easily avoided. They followed the sound of the bell, which rang every day once again, and soon found themselves at the ancient city of Shandora, finally seeing that which Norland had always believed in and always defended.
Naturally it wasn’t long before the fated meeting occurred. The descendants of two men who had fought so long to meet again but never did.
Recognition flashed like a bolt of lightning when they finally stood face-to-face. Only not the bad sort of lighting because Eneru was well and truly gone now, plummeted down to the Earth below or ricocheted out into out space. The inhabitants of Skypiea didn’t much care what happened to him so long as he wasn’t about to terrorize them any longer.
Wiper had been ringing the bell when Cricket and his men found their way to him. He looked down at the man below him, recognizing him from the Straw Hat’s description and a sort of fate, a magnetism that left no doubt: This must be Norland’s descendant.
He dropped to the ground and held out his hand. “Montblanc.” A touch of a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. “I’m Wiper. Welcome.”
It might not have been much in the way of introduction, but it was enough.
----
Weeks passed by, then months. The Saruyama Alliance had thrilled in the discovery of the dials, searching for new ways to enhance their skills at sea through them, had grown to love the soft, white land that was so much like a dream of its own, were proud to have been there to help the Boss accomplish his dream. It was good to see him so happy. He was healthier too, no more diving every day in search of something that wasn’t there. He’d proved the world wrong and didn’t care that no one but them and the Straw Hats knew it. It was enough.
----
The reconstruction of Skypiea was complete. Cricket and the Saruyama Alliance had lent their hands and skills in every way they could to rebuild the beautiful land. Nearly a year had passed before Masira and Shoujou once again felt the desire to sail the blue sea once again.
Cricket had no such desire any longer. He had not intended to become a pirate; he had only wanted to escape his own past. However for the first time since he had left his home, he felt as though he had a future. Not a distance dream or scant hopes of things, but a concrete future.
When the Saruyama Alliance’s fearless leaders finally approached him about it, they were met with nothing but kind understanding. That, and a request.
“I know you miss your homes and I won’t keep you here, but I can’t go back with you. I’ve found a place here, and here is where I’ll stay. A mistake was made many years ago and I don’t want to do the same.” He gave a watery smile and clutched Masira and Shoujou’s shoulders in a manly fashion. “But if you could stay here for just a month more, I would be grateful.”
----
And stay they did. At the end of the month there was a celebration of unrivaled comparison in all the history of Skypiea—everyone was there, for this day celebrated the union of two peoples long kept separate. The feasting and dancing lasted long into the night and the golden bell tolled hour after hour in commemoration of the ancestors, in memory of all that had happened before and with great hopes for the future.
----
“I’m through with chasing dreams,” Cricket said softly in the still of the night after everyone else had finally fallen asleep, many propped against the great snake who had sung the night away as the golden bell chimed. Cricket’s hand ran from the strong jaw to the flat planes of chest and finally around to the delicate wings that adorned his new husband’s back. “I have everything I’ve ever dreamed of right here.”
And in the dark of night, Wiper smiled.
He only hoped Calgara and Norland had heard the bells as well.
But it was enough.
OP has the best crack pairings. No lie.

Date: 2008-01-07 07:58 am (UTC)despite their age difference!!I'm so happy that Skypiea allows gay marriage. AND THERE WERE WEDDING BELLS.
♥

Date: 2008-01-07 08:01 am (UTC)Bah, of course they do. Come on, they have WINGS. You don't get gayer than that, no matter how manly you may be. XD AND WEDDING BELLS = TOTALLY A MUST.
♥!! I'm glad you approve because I'm honestly sorta terribly embarrassed to have written something this POINTLESSLY SCHMOOPY.
no subject
Date: 2008-01-07 08:06 am (UTC)That is true. I love the wings though. I want me a set so bad. And YES to the wedding bells!
HAHAHAHA!!! Well I'll have to outdo you with my Franky/Iceberg. And then give you a new pairing.
no subject
Date: 2008-01-07 08:08 am (UTC)Yeah I do too. They totally rock the wings and I WISH I were that cool.
*_____* I CAN'T WAIT. LIFE IS EXCITING!

Date: 2008-01-07 08:11 am (UTC)Me too. I wonder if they're just decorations or if they can FLY. But I'm pretty sure they can't fly.
I'LL THINK EXTRA HARD ON THE PAIRING SO IT DOESN'T END UP BEING BUGGY/SHANKS.
no subject
Date: 2008-01-07 08:18 am (UTC)Yeah I don't think they can. Way too small to be useful, yanno? But they're preeeetty.
BUGGY/SHANKS?! AHAHAA!!!! I bet it's been done. I saw something earlier that had ZORO/SHANKS in it. Which made me laugh a lot, but I didn't read it.

Date: 2008-01-07 08:23 am (UTC)Oh I KNOW it's been done before. It seems common! ZORO/SHANKS THOUGH?! Luffy's favorite people?
no subject
Date: 2008-01-07 08:31 am (UTC)APPARENTLY? They've never MET. So LOL?
no subject
Date: 2008-01-07 08:32 am (UTC)Maybe they have and Luffy doesn't know.
no subject
Date: 2008-01-07 08:35 am (UTC)....Hm! An interesting idea!
no subject
Date: 2008-01-07 08:36 am (UTC)It'd be like a soap opera. Shanks came to ZORO'S island first.

Date: 2008-01-07 08:44 am (UTC)Oh MAN. WHAT A SOAP. Hahaha. And the WHOLE WORLD goes upside down. XD
